What Is Jiu Jitsu? The Martial Arts and How To Understand Them

Author’s review

The two greatest compliments I can give to the editor, Joanne, was the thoroughness of the proofing and reorganizing. Her critiques and suggestions and corrections demonstrated that the entirety of the work had been carefully gone over and scrutinized - not pushed through anything like a factory conveyor belt process like an editing mill. This impression was clear from the sample I submitted, and even more so from the work done later.

My own personal style of writing is inspired by authors in the nineteenth and twentieth century who did what some refer to us 'fine writing': a long-winded and heavy style that many people (aside from a few others like me) probably would find a little taxing to read for long periods. I rewrote and rewrote and rewrote...but knew it had to eventually be streamlined by someone not emotionally involved and who was completely objective. I knew I needed an editor for this as much as for the more conventional concerns like verb tense agreement and continuity of thought in certain passages.

This book, 'What Is Jiu Jitsu?: The Martial Arts and How to Understand Them' went into publication shortly thereafter. It is now purchasable through any number of online book retailers. If and when anything else gets written as a followup to this, I will definitely return to the same editing service.

Thanks Joanne, I took all of your advice and made every suggested change.
