A short introduction

Kovi comes from a small village in West Africa. After he receives his university education in his home country, he embarks on a journey that takes him around the world in pursuit of higher education and happiness. Throughout his journey, he carries a part of his culture, which he refuses to give up. After years of living abroad, making new friends, and working, Kovi must answer the ultimate question..."where is home?" He must also cope with brain drain—and how his education, research, and expertise might benefit his country and the people of Africa.

Dr. Ketevi Adikl Assamagan is a tenured research physicist in nuclear and particle physics. He did his bachelor's degree in physics and chemistry at the University of Lom Togo, and then he went to the USA to pursue his Masters of Science and doctorate degrees in physics at Ball State University and University of Virginia, respectively. Subsequently, Dr. Assamagan did post-doctoral studies at Hampton University. Since 1998, he has been working on the ATLAS Experiment. He is a member of the ATLAS Collaboration that discovered the particle known as the Higgs Boson. Dr. Assamagan is one of the founding members of the African School of Fundamental Physics and Applications (www.africanshoolofphysics.org).rnrnHis current research interests focus on the search of dark matter and for physics beyond the Standard Model of particle physics. He is a member of the National Society of Black Physicists, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the American Physics Society.
