A short introduction
For nearly fifty years, Destroyer Squadron Fifteen stationed in Yokosuka, Japan has been the vanguard for the United States Navy in the western Pacific Ocean. Whether reacting to the latest war between Pakistan and India, conducting combat operations during the closing months of the Vietnam War, gathering intelligence off the Korean peninsula, or enforcing freedom of navigation in the South China Sea, DESRON FIFTEEN ships have been the point of the spear for U.S. foreign policy in half the world's ocean. This memoir chronicles the history of the USS Richard B. Anderson during the early years of DESRON FIFTEEN's forward deployment as seen through the eyes of an enlisted sonar technician.
