A short introduction

Blurb rnThe Truth Bird is a science fiction tale of two teenage boys, Sam and David, who were born with special powers, one of which is the gift of flying through space in their dreams. One day during a flight, they meet the star god, Giorgio, who befriends them and gives them the gift of physical flight. He also gives them bracelets to communicate with him and tells them that they will be called upon one day to be of service. Because of the division and political chaos on Earth, Giorgio is commissioned by heaven to help solve some of the problems and calls the boys in to help. Giorgio himself is an elected official in the alien community, which consists primarily of greys, buzzards, and bigfoots. Dealing with his own political spin in space, his goal is to change the catastrophic course Earth is on because not only does he believe it's the right thing, if he succeeds, he will get the funding he needs for his space infrastructure project. The boys then kick off a truth campaign and attempt to get a health care bill passed by pulling off a Watergate- type of caper assisted by Giorgio from the star castle. While discussing the mission's outcome, they mull over ideas on how to address global warming, which also affects the alien community. Based on an off-the-cuff comment by David's father, they hatch a bizarre plan to combat the propaganda campaign against global warming put out by Fox News. Because of all the media spinning that has metastasized during the Trump administration, Giorgio brings the Truth Bird out of retirement to help in the effort. rn

David Velde was born in Manhattan, New York, on August 11, 1964. He is a father of five, with three grandchildren and has resided in Illinois since the age of ten. He's become a moderately successful entrepreneur in the construction industry and as a real estate investor. He's a hardworking man, with a sense of humor that his family loves and has never forgotten those who are less fortunate. He's dedicated to volunteer service in the homeless community and committed to fundraising for St. Jude Children's Cancer Research Hospital. He enjoys traveling, writing, playing music, and dancing. Fascinated with space exploration and the unknown, he is also a diehard ancient astronaut theorist. He's never politically campaigned or protested for anyone, or anything in his life until now. The propaganda campaign launched by the Trump administration was unconscionable in his eyes. Watching it taken root, with the help of once respected Republican leaders and Fox News, has shaken him to his core. He believes there is no larger threat to our democracy, and the many participants contributing to the poisoning our youth will one day have to answer for their shameful work. When asked where his inspiration came from to write the stories, he said, “From complete desperation. When your country is highjacked by criminal organization, such as the Trump administration and the air waves are flooded with propaganda, accepting help from the aliens is not far stretch from the current reality and sounds quite reasonable under the circumstances”. He wrote The Truth Bird series for selfish reasons. However this crisis turns out, whether anyone reads the books or not, he can sleep at night knowing he gave it his best shot to make his voice heard. Disheartened with the divisions in our country today and with many friends on both sides of the aisle, Mr. Velde remains hopeful that the country will come together again.
