The professionalism, the timely follow-ups, status updates, courtesy. A good group to work with, especially on something so dear to my heart. The recommendations were great, and the editing was exemplary. The recommendation of using scene breaks really made my book easier to read. I am still finding more of the great edits every time I reread!
Emily is running up through a large stream in a dark green forest. There are rocks coming up out of the stream and many fallen tree trunks crossing it. There are lots of small waterfalls and pools of deeper water as the stream travels over and around the rocks and fallen tree trunks. As she runs up, jumping from rock to tree trunk and then back to rock, Emily realizes how gracefully she moves, one continuous fluid motion. She doesn't need to think about it, she just knows where to go, like she has made this run a hundred times before. It is dark but she sees clearly. Emily notices a wolf standing off in the forest and thinks that maybe it will come after her. She starts moving faster up along the stream. Next, she comes to a spot with a carcass lying half submerged in the water under a large fallen pine tree that is crossing the stream about seven feet up. Emily easily jumps up toward the tree trunk and as she looks down another wolf is tearing meat from the carcass. It must have been a very large deer? Emily doesn't understand why the sight of it doesn't upset her. She searches for her feelings, but none come.
