Their belief systems and cultural changes for people in the outback are described. The book provides personal glimpses of life in the outback of Australia, who lives there, the farmers and the Aboriginals, their beliefs and how airplanes are used to provide medical care to these inhabitants.

Pat Walcyk is a physician who dared to travel to remotely inhabited areas of Australia. She recounts what is was like to be female as a doctor when there were not many females in the field.
