Kim Jong Gone

Author’s review

FirstEditing was my first experience using an online editing service, and I cannot think about using any other in the future. My editor was a crack professional who worked on my manuscript diligently and with great enthusiasm. Not only were his editorial skills well-honed, his insights about flow and improvements in language were top notch. He stayed in communication with me constantly and his praise of Kim Jong Gone was very reinforcing.

A short introduction

After an assassination attempt during Kim Jong-un's first visit to New York City, Kim disappears into thin air. Two days later, when an amateurish ransom note, together with a lock of Kim's hair, arrive at the Chinese Embassy, we're into the most unlikely and audacious kidnapping of all time. rnIn KIM JONG GONE, everything is on the line for ex-cop and security expert, LUKE GABRIEL, who's on a covert and deeply personal mission to keep Kim from harm. His brother, BEN, went missing two years earlier while filming a documentary near the DMZ, and Luke is convinced North Korea has him. The fact that he wasn't among prisoners released by Kim in 2018 added another layer of cruelty. It's killing Luke to be so helpless in his brother's rescue while being asked to rescue his brother's keeper. rnrnAs Luke, the NYPD, FBI all hunt for Kim, an unknown gang is also in pursuit, bent on killing the missing dictator for their own reasons. The stakes suddenly spike when North Korea starts executing previously unaccounted-for prisoners and one of the released prisoners' reports having seen an American who matches Ben's description. rn rnLuke's search will take him and Army Special Ops to a small, deserted island in the East River, and three deranged kidnappers led by a powerful, egomaniacal woman. In a stunning final twist, Luke risks his life to save Kim, then takes him prisoner himself, seizing the moment in a go-for-broke end game to bargain for his brother's return. rn
